On 12 August 2026, Mallorca will witness a rare alignment.
As the sun sets over the Mediterranean, a total solar eclipse will unfold — not partially, but complete. The Moon will move slowly across the Sun, the light gradually receding, the air shifting, the landscape entering a quieter register.
At around 20:31, totality. The sky darkens, the solar corona appears, and Mallorca is held in an unfamiliar dusk — the sun is already low, close to disappearing.
We have been thinking about where to be.
Along the Sierra de Tramuntana, the coastline faces west without interruption. From Valldemossa and Deià to Port de Sóller, Pollença, Formentor — the horizon holds, open and unobstructed.
Valldemossa and Can Aulí sit in a direct line with the setting sun. Elevated, west-facing, meant for evenings like this one.
We will be there. Watching the same sky.
